I love this time of year. This summer has been too hot for me to be comfortable doing anything and as much as I love the warmth, I hate feeling sweaty and fearing the lobster-esque sunburns I’m all too familiar with. The change in seasons is wonderful for me. I particularly love the weather that is still warm of a day and of a night slightly chilly, just enough to curl up under the covers. What I don’t love is the season sickness. Don’t get me wrong I hardly ever get sick. For whatever reason I’m fairly hearty about it and while everyone around me is groaning and sneezing I’m somehow nearly always immune to it — nearly. This year is Alexa’s first year of school. She’s never had to go to a babysitter or daycare – not even while I was a full-time commuter student. I’m guessing I can blame this round of sick on a combination of the weather and the little kindergarten classmates Alexa has been so recently surrounded by. Whatever the case, this time around we’ve all got the bug.
Alexa got it first with a nasty fever to go with it. Then my mother and I picked up the miserable feeling as well. Alexa is still coughing, mom is stuffed up and has the sore throat and I just have so much pressure built up in my head I feel like I’m about to pop. Thankfully though we are all better than we were — I think. With any luck we’ll be over it completely by the end of the week.
Logan’s birthday is coming up here soon and shortly after that, my own. There are plans to hit the local Renaissance Fair as well here soon which is always fun. Yes I know I’m a nerd. I only regret not being able to afford more. Its always so much more fun to have a good amount of money to spend at the Fair – there is always so many things we end up wanting to buy!
Time to start getting in shape. Nothing like a nearly free vacation to motivate!
